COACHES - Angela Silva, Japanese/Okinawa Forms Assistant Coach/Women's Issues Resource

Angela Silva was born in Toronto, and currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta.

She began her martial arts training in 1997, in the art of Kanzen Kenpo under Mr. Vern Gorman.  In 2001 she moved her studies to Evolution Kenpo also under Mr. Gorman.   She has an excellent tournament record and in 2005, secured 2 Gold Medals at the WOMAA World Martial Games in Rosenheim, Germany and was ranked number 5 in North America by the National Black Belt League (NBL).  She is one of the founding Directors of the Canadian National Martial Arts Association.

While competing in Rosenheim, Germany last year, Angela suffered a serious knee injury which required corrective surgery in late 2005.  While unable to compete this year, Angie wants to put her talents to work for Team Canada 2006 as Assistant Coach for the Japanese/Okinawa Forms Divisions and as the resource for Women's Issues.
